Topic Brainstorm
The Divine Familly: Shiva, Parvati, Ganesha and Kartikeya (Source: Wikimedia Commons)
The first topic that I possibly want to talk about women. Since I love my WGS courses, I want to know more about women, and how they are depicted, their role: to what extent are they essential, their dynamics with their male counterparts. I will maybe narrate different women with a different roles. “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” inspires me; I will definitely not pick the same positions, but for sure, women with different statuses. Like for example, Ahalya (the wife), Kausalya (the queen), and Bhumi (the goddess). For the format, I was thinking of having a reality show concept or a talk show and discussing their role, how they feel about it, etc…
The second
topic I thought of approaching is the love story between different couples. I
love Shiva and Parvati love stories, so why not learn about the others? I want
to retell their stories like a tv reality show/game show, like “The Newlywed
Game,” where each couple competes to see who is the best one and which couple
knows each other the best. The list of project topic and storybooks inspire me
My third idea for a topic is related to parenthood. I thought again about a talk show concept where parents talk about their struggles of being a parent of an exceptional being, coping with parenting, and their powerful and influential role. For example, Shiva and Parvati (I really like them), Dushyanta and Shakuntala, or Sita. While browsing for an idea, I was listening to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham soundtrack and this idea came up since one of the movie themes is family and parenthood. So, I google "mother and father in Hindu folklore" and these articles showed up: "8 dads from Hinduism mythology we're glad we don't have" and "The Heroic mothers in Hindu folklores"
The last
topic I thought about is telling the story of one of the children of the Hindu
trinity Shiva, Bhrama, and Vishnu. Again, through a talk show (I really love
this concept) or a diary. Or maybe through a sort of monologue where Ganesha
talks about his struggle because he is the son of THE Shiva. I want to tell
about their struggle of being their child and the expectations and how they
succeed on their own. My third idea gave me this one, if I'm talking about the parents, I can surely talk about the children.
