Week 2 Reading Overview

 

I have chosen a picture of Parvati because she is a significant figure of religiosity among Hindus: she is a model of conduct for women. And also, the first goddess my mom taught me. (Source: Wikimedia Commons)

I’m curious about microfictions and find it intriguing and fascinating to “compressed” a story in just 100 words. These tiny tales are also easy to read!  

The comic books that I really wanted to read were Shiva Parvati and Savitri because I love love stories. I know it’s basic, but I cannot get enough of it. Savitri is about impossible love, while Shiva Parvati deals with unrequited love. 

As for the videos, the ones that caught my attention are about women: Powerful women of Hindu mythology and Femme Fatales - Godesses of Love, Beauty & Passion. 

I love how women are powerful in Hinduism. They are as important as men, and they have a central place. Maybe one of the reasons I chose videos only about women is that I’m really interested in WGS courses. So selecting these videos was logical.
