My favorite place
My favorite place is La Reunion, the island I'm from. It's a French island situated in the Indian Ocean. "The Ultimate Island" is its nickname because it is culturally diverse and full of adventures through its pitons, cirques, and mountains, which are registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
It's my favorite place because it's home and where I truly feel good and comfortable.

Wow, Melanie, this is wonderful!!! I have never met anyone from La Reunion before... and of course I have a hundred questions about what it was like growing up there. I have studied some folktales from Madagascar... but I do not know anything about Reunion. I'm guessing some of the Indian stories and art etc. etc. that we will be looking at in this class will be familiar to you from the Indian contributions to the history and culture of the island. I am excited to learn more from you about that! African and Indian folktales are what I study and write about, but for me these are stories in books... while this is your world. Thank you so much for sharing these great pictures here in your blog. :-)

Hey Melanie, La Reunion looks gorgeous! I have never visited any island in my life, but I would love to. I think I need to go look up La Reunion on Google Maps and explore it virtually after this post; there really does seem to be so many different landscape features and things to see like you mentioned. How many times have you been able to go back and visit?
